This ocean strainer was implemented in partnership with the Fabric & Apparel Accessory Manufacturers Association (FAAMA), we were able to install two Ocean Strainers in Southern Colombo. In 2023, 102,400 kg of mixed waste was intercepted from floating towards the Nedimala Canal which connects to the Bolgoda lake. In 2024, it was reported that 87,872 kg of mixed waste was collected and sent to Kerawalapitya Waste Park for segregation. The recyclable plastic is given to Eco Spindles and non-recyclable/other mixed waste to Western Power for energy recovery.
