FOR
OUR
TIME
As a forerunner in apparel and textile manufacturing, we recognise that our actions have the power to reshape the industry. This is why we have set transformative goals that converge growth and sustainability, proving that better products are better for business.
To build a sustainable business model, we are committed to generate 50% of our revenue from sustainable products by 2025. We are determined to instill this change across our value chain and integrate sustainability into what we make and how we make it. Our efforts range from sourcing sustainable raw materials and engaging in clean manufacturing to exploring the repurposing of waste and used products back into clothing. With our growing capabilities, we are excited to partner with brands that share our sustainability values.
At MAS it is not just about making a product, it is about making products that are right for our time.
INNOVATIONS THAT DELIVER LASTING SOLUTIONS
Staying true to our ethos requires unique, game-changing innovations. Our innovative business models and sustainable value chain set us apart from traditional apparel manufacturers. We focus on replacing wasteful disposables with reusable solutions, we innovate technologies that make our products last longer, and we strive to create recyclable products, using less resources. Our goal is to make products good for the wearer and better for the planet.
MAKING FASHION LAST
MAS is determined to shift the conventional linear model of apparel manufacturing and find ways to upcycle and bring used products back into the value chain. Closing the loop between resources and end-products is the key to achieving circularity at scale.
Currently, we repurpose resources and waste that is created before the product reaches the consumer. Apparel manufacturing involves a substantial amount of cut and sew activity causing large amounts of wastage. At MAS we collect this pre-consumer waste and convert it into yarn and fabric, which is re-utilized.
Together with likeminded brands and partners, MAS is also piloting ways to repurpose our products at the end of life once the garments have been worn and discarded by consumers, so that they can be recycled back into yarn to make fabric for new products.
We partner with Eco-Spindles, a leading polyester yarn and filaments manufacturer to collect and recycle fugitive plastic waste. The waste is collected from the Sri Lankan coastline and bins that are strategically placed across the island. MAS has recycled millions of PET bottles into polyester yarn and fabric, paving a new and sustainable path in the apparel industry.
In 2019, 2020, and 2021, recycled fugitive PET bottles were used to produce the ICC Cricket World Cup jersey for the Sri Lankan national men’s and women’s cricket teams.
