Women Go Beyond – Allies In Change – Episode 1
As our flagship women’s empowerment programme, ‘Women Go Beyond’, reaches its 20th year, we invited some of the women and men who play crucial roles as allies of WGB, to sit down for a series of conversations and share their experiences through the years.
In the first episode of our ‘Allies in Change’ series, the Head of Women Go Beyond, Thanuja Jayawardene speaks to Shevanthi Fernando, General Manager, Sustainability, Diversity & Inclusion of MAS Intimates, about the origins and the impact of Women Go Beyond over the last 20 years.
The Women Go Beyond programme was created in 2003 as an effort to address gaps in resources, skills, rights and needs for women, who make up the majority of the MAS workforce. Now in its 20th year, the programme has evolved significantly and focuses on empowering women and building equality among all genders, aligned to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles.
